A Passionate Life is in Your Hands
Everyone can live a passionate life, but a passionate life won’t just happen. Rather, it has to be worked for. Winston Churchill created quotes to inspire us to live with passion:
- “We make a living by what we get, and we make a life by what we give.”
- “You have enemies? Good. Because that means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
- “Success is not final, and failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Passionate About Animals
Animals are a real passion of mine, and therefore I volunteer with a UK charity called Blue Cross. Volunteers socialise cats, of all ages, in order to help them find a new forever home!
Passionate About People
Because I know only too well the trauma of being adopted, adopted children are another very important cause to me. Adoption is the worst psychological trauma that a human can suffer.
Adoptees include both an adopted child, as well as an adopted child who is now an adult. Indeed, an adopted child can expect to suffer lifelong effects and negative behaviours as a consequence of their adoption!
A typical adoptee will find precious little help available, and society is unfortunately largely unaware of adoptees’ daily struggles. Consequently, adoptees are in a pretty bleak situation, and this needs to change for the millions of adoptees that are suffering around the World.
A Few Adoption Statistics:
Adopted children are more than 4 times more likely to attempt suicide versus a biological child.
Also, adopted children represent only 2% of the US population, yet very worryingly adoptees represent 25-35% of teens in correctional institutions (Adoption Voices, and Anderson and Carlson)!
Mental health professionals treat an alarmingly high number of adoptees who become mental health patients. Studies show an average of 25-35% of young adults in residential treatment centres are adoptees, and this is 17 times higher than the expected level!
